Solid structure wood: the high-tech timber KVH®

Solid structure wood, also known as KVH®, is a special kind of timber which is dimensionally accurate and dimensionally stable due to technical wood drying. This means that only tiny changes of size and shape are to be expected when the wood is installed. Solid structure wood offers some benefits:

  • Statically determinable material due to quality sorting to DIN 4074 S 10.
  • Equally good quality from quality-controlled production.
  • Homogeneous wood appearance due to the utilization of solid wood.
  • No chemical wood protection of dry installed wood required.
  • Wood as building material permanently binds carbon dioxide (CO2).

Static table KVH®

The following table can be used to help with dimensioning. It cannot replace an exact static calculation. The permissible span under a given load is specified for the individual cross sections. The values for deal of quality class II to DIN 1052, Part 1 (corresponds to DIN 4074 S 10 / C 24), that may also be used for finger jointed solid wood without weakening degree, are used as the basis of the dimensioning.
